Initially held in a board room of the Duval County School Board over 25 years ago, Duval County teachers were quietly recognized for their outstanding efforts. Realizing that these teachers, and this event, should receive far more consideration, one of our founding members, John Kattman, attended a Deerwood Rotary Club board meeting and proposed that we help sponsor the event to more appropriately recognize the teachers.
Over the many years, and in cooperation with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, we’ve helped this event grow to the incredible experience for teachers it has become. Held annually at the Hyatt in downtown Jacksonville, this formal event has over 800 attendees, and now appropriately and fully recognizes these amazing teachers for all their selfless efforts on behalf of our communities youth.
